An obstacle to holiday only exists for circumstances relating to you personally. Therefore, it will not be considered an obstacle to holiday if your child or your spouse were to become ill in connection with a holiday.
- Pregnancy leave, maternity/paternity leave, and adoption leave.
- Own sickness.
- Leave with loss of earnings (Section 42 of the Danish Social Services Act).
- Leave to care for sick relatives (Section 118 of the Danish Social Services Act).
- Leave to care for sick or dying relatives (Section 119 of the Danish Social Services Act).
- Emergency family circumstances according to the law on employees’ right to absence from work due to emergency family circumstances.
- Legally notified and completed labour conflicts.
- Detainment in correctional institutions.
Sickness during holiday
If you are sick when your holiday begins, or if you become sick during your holiday, it is important to take note of the special rules that apply.
