Pregnancy

Notification of employer regarding pregnancy

You must inform your employer of your pregnancy no later than three months before your due date. It will be difficult for most to wait that long, and many choose to inform their employer earlier than the deadline.

Frie Skolers Lærerforening recommends that you notify your employer of pregnancy as early as possible, as this provides special protection against termination.

Examinations during pregnancy

You have the right to paid absence for pregnancy examinations by a doctor or midwife if the visits cannot be scheduled outside of working hours.

Sickness during pregnancy

The doctor can issue a diagnosis that you are unable to work if you become ill due to pregnancy or if the doctor assesses that your work could harm you or your unborn child. The school must report this sick leave to Udbetaling Danmark. The school will receive parental leave benefit reimbursement from your first day of illness.
