The normal form of employment is full-time. If a school offers a part-time position, this must be stated in the vacancy announcement and subsequently in the letter of appointment.
If a school wants to change your employment from full-time to part-time, there must be an objective justification for this, and notice must be provided in accordance with your notice period for termination.
If you want to go from full-time to part-time, you should, possibly in cooperation with your union representative, make sure that this only applies for a limited period of one to two years.
This gives you the right to automatically revert to a full-time position should you wish. If the reduced hours apply for more than two years, you only have a right to full-time employment if there are available hours.
Employment at an efterskole or an independent primary and lower secondary school is normally without a time limitation.
However, temporary employment is permitted in specific cases and must be based on reasons existing at the beginning of the employment. It is a requirement that temporary employment is for a period of at least three months.
The uncertainty that will always exist about how many students enrol in classes is not sufficient reason in itself for temporary employment.
Specific reasons for temporary employment may include:
